Alicia is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan who has worked with clients on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, self esteem difficulties, relationship issues, and trauma. She has particular experience in assisting clients who struggle with with LGBT issues, substance abuse issues, and eating disorders.
Alicia earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Counseling from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She has worked in hospital settings, residential care settings, and as part of a community treatment team, and is experienced in providing care in a range of environments. She is currently the clinical supervisor of a multi-treatment facility which provides outpatient and partial hospitalization therapy to child, teen and adult clients in the Metro Detroit area.
Her counseling style is rooted in a humanistic approach, which means that every session is customized to meet the individual client’s needs. Sessions include elements of motivational interviewing, with a focus on helping clients assess their goals and implement a plan of action to achieve those goals. She also incorporates principals of cognitive behavioral therapy and neo-freudian theory to provide a tailored therapy plan for every client.
