About me
I am honored that you are considering me on your wellness journey. Whether you find a therapist here or elsewhere, persist in your effort to find the healing path that reveals your most authentic self. You are worth it. My therapeutic stance is that you are intrinsically powerful, worthy, and wise. My goal in therapy is to help you fully access those capacities. Just as the human family is being tossed by the waves of challenges, so are many of us as individuals. My role is to help you develop skills to grow through the challenges you encounter so that you can create a life of inner tranquility and stability and an external life of joy, connection, and meaning.
I received a Master’s degree from the School of Social Work at Howard University and have been working on equity in health and social access for Black families, particularly women, youth, and children, and the institutions that impact us my entire career. I have worked in child and maternal health, including childbirth education, parenting skills, depression, and anger management. In addition, I have worked with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, and substance use recovery. I developed my skills as a clinician working with survivors of human trafficking, intensive in-home therapy for mothers and children in crisis, and school social work. I utilize solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, compassion-focused therapy, behavior activation, and mindfulness therapies to support healing.
Amplifying client strengths and grounding therapy in client values accelerate healing. I tailor my approach to each client, but my first step is always to inventory your strengths and goals. Then we explore the patterns and thoughts that align with your highest self and those that do not serve you in this phase of your life. I will help you find tools to support thoughts and behaviors that are consistent with your values and discard those that are not. Early in therapy, I will inquire about your desire to incorporate spirituality, mindfulness, nutrition, exercise, and yoga and will incorporate those elements into your treatment plan if you desire.
I would be honored to support your journey.
