I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SW 8592) and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Florida International University in 1999. Then in 2001 I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration on Services to Elderly and their Families. I am currently an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University and a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Social Worker Interns. I have worked extensively with the older population and hospice patients. I have also provided bereavement counseling to children, adolescents, and adults in the South Florida community for over 15 years. I currently specialize in working with caregivers of persons with chronic illnesses, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease, as well as provide services to persons experiencing Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, adjustment disorders, relationship difficulties, life transitions and every day stressors. Additionally, I also work with the teen population and assist them with their depression and/or anxiety, or relationship issues and with gaining the coping skills necessary so they can lead more satisfying lives. I am empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental and have the ability to relate to others at their level. I offer a safe environment in which my clients can comfortably express themselves, explore their issues at hand, and learn the coping skills necessary to help them handle their personal situations more effectively. I utilize an eclectic style to therapy that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Solution Focused Therapy. I am also bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish. I look forward to working with you!
