About me
Welcome! I am Belinda Abena Twumasi, a licensed clinical social work therapist who possesses a diverse skill set and a profound sense of empathy and insight, allowing me to establish authentic and meaningful connections with my clients.
I want to first acknowledge that starting therapy can be a significant and challenging step, and I understand the courage it takes to embark on this journey. Rest assured, I am here to provide unwavering support as you navigate your path of self-discovery and healing.
Allow me to provide some insight into myself and the motivation driving my profession. Over the course of my career, I have been privileged to support individuals and families of diverse ages through various challenges. My areas of expertise encompass trauma healing, as well as addressing concerns related to depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, parenting conflicts, and navigating life transitions. Moreover, my experience extends to working with mandated or court-ordered clients with complex needs, enriching my understanding of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
One of my core passions lies in transformative work, as I encourage my clients to explore their lived experiences. Through a narrative approach, we delve into the depths to identify behaviors, beliefs, and patterns that may hinder their current progress. My goal is to cultivate confidence and empower clients to embrace renewal and emerge prepared to face the world with newfound strength.
My therapeutic style is grounded in cultural humility, recognizing the importance of understanding, and valuing the distinct perspectives and lived experiences that shape each client’s narrative. I believe that healing must occur on all levels, and to facilitate transformative growth, I utilize an array of therapeutic techniques tailored to suit your unique needs and desired outcomes.
I believe it is my moral obligation as a POC to highlight the importance of fostering a respectful and safe space for minorities to engage in therapeutic vulnerability. In the same spirit, I am deeply committed to cultivating a compassionate space where everyone, feels welcomed and supported without fear of judgment.
As a clinician, my dedication lies in providing the highest quality of inclusive care that acknowledges the intersectionality of diverse experiences, including those of marginalized groups. My priority is to affirm each individual’s unique identity and honor their rich cultural backgrounds, fostering a sense of pride, purpose, and self-acceptance among all my clients.
I eagerly look forward to being a part of your journey, providing unwavering support and guidance as you take steps toward positive change and growth. My office hours are thoughtfully designed to accommodate your busy schedule, available during evenings and weekends. I strive to check my message inbox daily between 3 pm and 4 pm, ensuring prompt follow-up.
