About me
Greetings! I am elated that you have found your way to my profile. This is an exciting time for you, and I applaud you for taking the first step (of many) in seeking the support that is needed to allow your journey to begin. You are stronger than most, because you have made a decision to get help, and I would be grateful to help you get to your goal. Let me introduce myself, and what I can offer in order to support you to the fullest.
I am a career minded person, that believes that everyone has the uncanny ability to be better today then they were yesterday, and more room to improve themselves tomorrow. I love to laugh, and I love to be real with people. I have dedicated my career to the counseling field since 2001, and can openly say I have not one regret for the career path I chose – I often think that counseling chose me!
I have a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Adams State University (2009) and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Counseling, with an emphasis in Neuropsychology from University of the Rockies (2013). I currently hold a license in Colorado as well as in Oklahoma as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been steadily refining my counseling skills in a multitude of settings since 2001. My experience draws from dedicating 12 years of counseling at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, while also working with active military, veterans, and their families. My most current professional clinical settings have been working within the Oklahoma and Colorado prison systems, as well as with the juvenile detention centers. I currently hold the position of Clinical Director, and this position gives me great pleasure as I have the opportunity to work directly with clients, as well as have the opportunity to help other counselors grow professionally and hone their skills. I have a great passion for supporting others and helping them build themselves up, in order to make positive life choices, and reflect a pay-it-forward attitude. I have had the pleasure of helping individuals on their journey heal from past abuse, discover their self-esteem, and grow to discover that they do have the confidence to live their lives fully.
My therapeutic style is truly eclectic, and adjusts to meet the needs of the person requesting support. I truly subscribe to the ideology that one size does NOT fit all. And this is the beauty of being you, you are an individual and your sessions will be just as individualized as you are. To give a glimpse of what a session would look like, and to add some structure, I utilize a strength-based approach, closely followed by the Rogerian Therapy methodology, more commonly referred to as client-centered. You know you best, and I want for you to be comfortable in teaching me all that there is to know about you, so that we can help you reach your goals. I will be there to guide you, encourage you, possibly even challenge you if I feel you are unknowingly allowing obstacles to stand in your way.
If this kind of therapeutic relationship sounds like it could work for you, then I welcome the opportunity, with open arms and an open mind, to join you on your journey of awakening, healing, and self-discovery.
I hope to work with you soon!
