About me
Hello and welcome.
My name is Brian Berger. I am a licensed mental health counselor with 15 years of experience as a practicing therapist. I firmly believe all people have the power and the ability to heal themselves. I believe my clients know themselves best and thus within possess the tools needed to make dynamic life changes. My role as a counselor is to assist in this process by providing compassion, patience, non-judgment, and when needed, the appropriate push, direction, and insight that will guide you towards improving self-awareness and achieving your personal goals. I view therapy as a collaborative and sacred process that is built on the foundations of openness, trust, and safety.
I received my Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Rutgers University in 2004 and my Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2007. I have worked in residential, out-patient, corrections, and acute-psychiatric settings with adults, children, adolescents, and families, dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem/self-worth, trauma, grief and loss, addictions, intensive mental health, dual-diagnosis, and relationship issues/couples/family therapy. Some additional specialized populations I have served are juvenile offenders, developmental disabilities, human trafficking, LGBTQ, and HIV/chronic health issues.
I praise you for the courage and strength you are demonstrating by seeking help and I would be honored to assist you on this journey.
