About me
I am licensed in New Mexico and Oregon with 15 years of professional work experience in mental health and 20 years of professional experience in substance abuse treatment. I believe in taking a collaborative approach to treatment with my clients – after all, you are the expert on you!
My clients say they find me to be warm, non-judgmental, and validating. I am also irreverent and use humor at times if I feel it is appropriate. I am body positive and take a Healthy at Every Size (HAES) approach to body size and weight . I am also LGBTQ+ affirming and sex positive.
Some of my areas of experience and expertise are:
-PTSD and trauma, including childhood and generational trauma
-LGBTQ+ issues
-Veteran’s issues including treatment of combat and non-combat PTSD and culturally competent treatment for Women Veterans and LGTBQ+ Veterans.
-Depression and bipolar disorder
I have a bachelor’s degree in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2005) and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno (2008). I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, and Motivational Interviewing.
