About me
I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and I have been practicing since 2011 in the state of Illinois. I have gained lots of experience working in different settings including telehealth and face to face outpatient, residential, inpatient and partial hospitalization programs. I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship and parenting issues, teen and young adult concerns and a wide range of challenges including multicultural issues, trauma, abuse, bipolar, crises, as well as personal growth.
Experiences in various settings and geographical areas, has equipped me with skills to working with a variety of minority groups and becoming aware of the many concerns we face in the community. I am also capable of providing counseling sessions in Spanish for those who feel more comfortable in their native language.
I think of counseling as a client-counselor alliance and believe in clients taking the wheel and feel in control of their treatment. I am flexible in the way I work with each individual client as each one is unique and different from the other. I trust that clients can achieve their goals as they are capable and resilient, and that with a listening ear and skills building clients can feel more in control of their world within them and around them.
I utilize a person-centered approach in each session as I believe it is important to meet each client where they are to work toward where they want to be. Becoming aware of each person’s attachment styles, life experiences and traumatic histories can also be used to guide clients to gaining insight on their current difficulties. I often utilize skill building approaches from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narratives and Mindfulness to equip clients with the necessary tools to reaching their goals.
I believe in creating a space that is validating, comfortable and non-judgmental so that you can feel empowered and work in alliance to meeting your treatment goals. It takes bravery and motivation to seek out support and I would be delighted to starting this path of self healing with you.
I look forward to meeting you!
