About me
I’m glad to introduce myself to you and look forward to us possibly working together in collaboration to address whatever has brought you here.
I have been in private practice as a licensed psychotherapist (LPC) for the past 37 years, most of that time in Dallas. I moved to the Bay Area in California 8 years ago (best decision i ever made!) and added Life Coaching to my practice. My work is much different now than in Texas–instead of going to a brick and mortar office every day and seeing clients, I now work exclusively on the phone and on line and have become involved with several projects on different platforms, including as an online coach for a decision making start up, and as a counselor for the Life Reimagined program. i also received Disaster Management Training and became certified as a telephonic critical incident responder.
I received my Master’s from Arizona State University and I have been licensed since 1983 after gaining early experience in psychiatric hospital social work and mental health center settings. In my practice, I have worked with individuals on a wide variety of issues, including anxiety and depression, relationships, separation and divorce, family conflicts, parenting, grief and loss, and chronic illness. i am a cancer survivor (30 years healthy and happy) and have talked with many people experiencing catastrophic illness and disability. In 2011, I became a Certified Life Coach, receiving training through Coach Training Alliance.
I am now fortunate enough to be able to blend my years of experience as a therapist and life coach with my own life experiences to work with Baby Boomers as they face the challenges and transitions in the new chapters in their lives.
Most of the issues that bring people into a counseling relationship can be addressed in three phases:
First is the “What”–what is your situation, problem, experience, etc.
Next is the “So What–what effect have these experiences had on your decisions, choices, lifestyle, behaviors
The third is the “Now What”–where to go from here. My experience in solution oriented, brief therapy has led to an emphasis on this “now what” and the changes that can make a big difference in your life.
i would be honored to be your partner in your growth journey!
Best,
Chris Ryan
