About me
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and I have helped clients with a wide range of concerns. I strive to support, encourage, educate, and empower you. I have found that one or two styles of therapy is not suited to all people. Every person has a unique background and life experiences and everyone responds differently to different types of counseling. I use different therapy models and therapeutic techniques to make sure that your specific concerns are addressed in a way that is most effective for you. Our work together will always be focused on you and your strengths because I believe that you have inside yourself what it takes to make changes to succeed. My role is to guide and support you in using those strengths to build your skills and confidence necessary to meet your goals. Regarding my education and experience, I received my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida and my Master’s degree in Counseling at California State University, Fullerton. I have been a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of Florida since 1994. I have extensive training in a range of modalities including Family Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy for trauma, Solution-Focused, Brief Intervention, Crisis Intervention, Cognitive-Behavioral, Reality Therapy, Rational-Emotive, Dialectical Behavior, and Transactional Analysis. I also co-authored a book for successfully overcoming anxiety. I have a great deal of experience working with families, couples and individuals who sought treatment for concerns such as: anxiety, trauma, abuse/neglect; depression and lack of motivation; stress management; relationship issues (conflicts, intimacy, communication, trust, parenting difficulties, parent and in-law challenges); aging; grief and loss; anger management; addiction and co-dependency; self-esteem and lifestyle transitions. The thought of asking for help can be an intimidating idea but doing so can improve your satisfaction with life, help you through difficult times and help change uncomfortable or troubling emotions. I will make this process as painless as possible by providing a safe, confidential, nonjudgmental environment and providing a secure, strong therapeutic relationship. I believe in treating people with respect and dignity. I am here to support, encourage and empower you in your journey. Please note: if you do not see available session times that fit your needs, other times can be made available upon request.
