Hello , I and Donna and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Wisconsin. I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. I started working in a residential facility for adolescents then moved on to intensive in-home therapy with individual adults, parents and children, and with teens and children in our local schools. I have never been one to practice with in the traditional framework, so meeting online is an extension of meeting people where they may feel the most comfortable. Therapy is a collaboration between people, I have expertise in the therapeutic process, and you are the expert on you. The most important ingredient of therapy is building the safe and secure relationship. People heal and grow the best in the context of supportive relationships. I offer education on the brain/nervous system mechanisms, which are intended to keep us safe (fight, flight and freeze,)but after a trauma or chronic stress become over activated. This often leads to feelings of anxiety, depression and feeling overwhelmed and out of control. Learning how this mechanism drives our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings gives us all he power to change. I believe in treating the whole person; body,mind and soul.
