I specialize in helping women during the difficult transitional period of becoming a mother. My area of focus is Pregnancy and Post-partum Mood Disorders. Motherhood can be a very challenging period in a woman’s life. First time mothers of any age, as well as those with prior experience may have a difficult time adapting to the massive life shift that comes with caring for a new baby. This time period can span from the beginning of pregnancy, until 3 years after delivering a baby. Common emotional issues during this time include stress, sadness, anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, motivation, self esteem, & confidence. I work with new mothers to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My approach to therapy is collaborative as well as cognitive behavioral. As we work together we will be looking at any road blocks that may be the root cause of your current struggles, be it at a conscious or unconscious level. We will also be implementing practical life changes and actions that will bring about the healing you desire in your life. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier experience of motherhood takes courage. I am here to support you towards your own journey of transformation. I completed my graduate studies in psychology at Columbia University in 2003, and I am licensed in the State of New York. My area of research and expertise is focused on working with women’s issues and helping new moms to navigate the psychological challenges of motherhood.
