Hi there! My name is Jackie Dowgiallo and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addictions Specialist located in St. Petersburg, FL. I have over eight years of experience as a therapist, in non-profit and for-profit sectors as well as private practice. I earned my Master of Art’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University in 2011. My experience includes working with individuals suffering with PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship issues, eating disorders, career challenges, self-esteem/body image and personality disorders. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a strong partnership that is the most important element for long term change. I follow a trauma informed care approach to treatment, providing unconditional positive regard, empathy, active listening to help build rapport and respect. I utilize several different therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioral, Solution focused, Dialectical behavioral and trauma-focused therapeutic models to assist clients in accomplishing personal therapy goals. I also enjoy adding in a little humor to my sessions and developing creative and unique homework assignments to increase accountability and engagement in the therapeutic process. I provide a non-judgmental, safe, relaxed and multicultural approach to therapy. I believe that with motivation and hard work, long term change is real.
