Hello, My name is Jan and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been licensed for over 25 years. After my children were in school fulltime, I decided to get a job. I was I had a degree in teaching but felt that I wanted to teach special education. To do that I went back to school and got a masters in learning disabilities. I loved the job and loved the children but felt that I was missing some information. Many of the children that I taught also had emotional concerns. it was not uncommon for them to struggle in school for several years before they were diagnosed. That often left them with a very low sense of themselves. I wanted to help. I went back to school and got a masters degree in counseling. I loved it so much that I stayed and also got a specialists degree in counseling. All of that led me to leaving teaching and taking a job as a school counselor. I was so fortunate to stay in the school system. In addition to that job, I saw some private clients over the years. Once I retired from the school system , I built my private practice. It has been a few years since I have seen clients but find that I really miss it. This is a perfect solution. I am pretty easy to get to know. Spending time with someone and helping them find ways to be more comfortable in their lives is such a great adventure. showing people strengths that they didn’t even know they had is so satisfying for everyone.
