About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist. During my career I have counseled diverse clients in a variety of settings in several states. I am currently licensed in California and Texas.
I have a collaborative, client-centered approach which starts with effective listening. I offer many unique interventions depending on your needs. My approach is focused on you. Clients tell me I am an attentive listener, compassionate, and engaging. I believe people who seek therapy have important strengths to build upon to bring more effective results to their life. I offer a flexible schedule with whatever mode of communication suits you best.
I also work in a healthcare environment in a level 1 trauma Emergency Department. I am well versed in the stressors of being in healthcare during the COVID Pandemic.
While I work with a wide range of clients and clinical concerns, my specialty is clinical anxiety and performance anxiety. Clinical anxiety is often experienced when one is facing a completely new task, new challenge or even changes in a relationship or family. Or it may be a life-long issue that has kept you from doing or achieving what you would like to do.
Performance anxiety is often present in professional or athletic settings. It may be the debilitating fear of public speaking or, when under pressure, forgetting what you know. When this happens, you feel less confident and perform less competently.
The good news, there is hope about containing anxiety. With a combination of insight therapy and anxiety containment skills, one can overcome the debilitation of anxiety. I have taught these skills to professionals, musicians, athletes, military personnel and people facing unsettling anxiety. With focused work, anxiety can be contained.
I have provided psychotherapy and taught resilience and performance skills to military personnel all over the United States. I have also worked for the Veterans Affairs healthcare system which provides insight into the challenges veterans face.
I believe that online therapy offers an effective mode of tracking progress. I will help you describe what you want to accomplish in therapy and then create a therapeutic path to obtain those results. You will be able to see the progress you are making on a regular basis.
I look forward to working with you to overcome and transform the issues you bring to therapy.
