Hi, My name is Kiara and I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. I have over 8 years of experience working in the field and I am very passionate for this work! I have worked in a variety of settings including clinics, hospitals, outpatient, in homes and addictions. I have experience working with adults, couples and teenagers who come to me for an array of reasons. I have about 5 years experience working with substance abuse and addictions for teenagers and adults as well as sexual assault and trauma. With the climate of today’s world, I understand the importance of multi-cultural preferences and I am open to meeting the needs of my clients. The hardest step of the process of going to therapy, is actually taking the action to seeking support. And here you are! I would like to describe my approach to clients as very welcoming and warm. My clients provide the expectations and the goals in our sessions, my job is to offer support and guidance through the process. Counseling is about you and meeting the needs you have for yourself, not what others perpetuate your needs to be. I want you to leave my session feeling as though you are closer to meeting your goals. I use a client-centered, solution-focused approach. Much of my sessions include works from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and narrative therapy. This means, we work on what your needs are and how we can get you- your mind and body, on the same page. I am open in sessions and very engaging. I listen to you and we work together! With my personal experiences, coupled with my professional experiences, I am able to offer comfort to my client. I was a military brat, moved to over 12 different states and I have traveled to over 10 different countries. I am a professional at adaptation and being resilient as well as talking to new people. I know life is not always rainbows and sunshine, but I have learned the importance of interpretation and framing our perspectives. It makes such a difference!
