About me
Hi there, my name is Krissy, and I want to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2015 and have a passion for helping people make positive changes in their lives. I have an integrated approach to counseling and thus consider each persons challenge from many different angles. Having been in the health care field for 15 years, I bring a vast and varied array of experiences to the table to help each person with their specific challenge.
I received my undergraduate degree in philosophy from The University of New Mexico, and my Masters degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University here in Orlando. My counseling experience includes working in a women’s residential facility for addiction treatment, individual and couples counseling in my private practice and working with teens with multiple mental health challenges within a local school district near Orlando. Prior to being a therapist I went through hypnotherapy training and have practiced this successfully with private clients for multiple issues. I am also a certified yoga instructor so this brings experience and knowledge, that adds versatility to my approach . I currently teach & guide meditation and mindfulness practices to both adults and teens.
I offer a person-centered approach to counseling and this means, I am able to meet each person where they are at, without judgement and with the ability to see them beyond their current challenge. Although I have been trained in many different modalities including hypnotherapy, EMDR and DBT, I adapt each session to your specific needs and bring in aspects of each modality as needed and appropriate.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have regarding my approach and your specific challenge. Please know that I am here for you and I will be up front with you, if I do not feel like I am the right person to help you. I have searched and seen my own therapists over the years and I believe at different times, we need different people to help us move forward. I hope that I am the right person for you, but if I am not, I will happily help you find the right fit. Finding a therapist who you connect with is the most important first step in helping yourself and so let’s see if I am the right fit for you. I wish you all the best on your journey and will leave you with one of my favorite quotes by Kalidasa:
“Yesterday is but a dream,
Tomorrow is only a vision.
But today well lived makes every
yesterday a dream of happiness, and
every tomorrow a vision of hope.”
