Hello, My name is Laura. A poet and writer named Bukowski stated that “Not everything that weighs you down is yours to carry”. There are times when we need to distinguish the difference. I am a licensed counselor in the state of Florida. I received my undergraduate degree at Boston College and a Master Degree in Social Work, at Florida International University. For the past 21 years I have served the Youth, Adults and Seniors in supporting their mental health. Focus areas have included, depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, and interpersonal relationships. I achieve results by using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Care. My primary therapeutic orientation is Client Centered and Solution Focused. I believe that individuals want to grow and evolve, but “life” has a way of growing individuals at a different pace than desired. However, once individuals get into a Solution Focused stance, the anxiety of the situation tends to diminish enough, so people can work on the problem. What a great way to deal with a situation that seems insurmountable. I am a counselor with a solid reputation that shows authentic concern for individuals and the outcome of their decisions. Protecting an individual’s privacy is of the utmost importance to me and safety is a priority. I will help individuals to gain insight into the problem and creatively develop a plan with obtainable goals.
