I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Michigan. My professional background includes 30 years of experience in the schools as a school social worker, working with preschool through high school students, aiding them on personal and social issues. Anxiety, depression, diversity, and social skills were some of the topics covered in weekly sessions. After retiring I have spent 5 years of volunteering in an impoverished urban community food pantry. I have been a field instructor for 3 students who were training to be social workers at the Master degree level. I have also mentored a few women and and have come along side others as they navigated through some difficult situations. I work with both men and women. I enjoy challenging people to reach their potential and assisting in eliminating barriers to their success. I am primarily a solution focused therapist, empowering clients in their own abilities in solving their life problems. In doing that together, we may also challenge some negative thinking and begin to restructure thoughts. I like to use different modalities in therapy to tap into a person’s creativity to achieve their goals. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is extremely important. A good match between the two facilitates communication and empathy.
