About me
I look forward to having an opportunity to work together exploring and finding solutions to some if not most of what you are experiencing.
As a licensed, solutions-focused and meaning-centered counselor and psychotherapist, our work will start small to refocus you and your life and invigorate it with purpose and meaning. We will find ways to free up some of your time enabling you to explore meaningful interests, activities, and relationships you might want to integrate or re-integrate into your life. We will also find ways to rebuild a network of friends and family to revitalize your social circles, decide what is important to you, and finally, find ways to look beyond your present job title.
I am a client-centered, trauma-informed therapist, trained in trauma therapies, such as EMDR. I am also completing my PhD studies focused on the trauma experienced by survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides and the transmission of that trauma to their children and grandchildren. A specialization of mine is working with second- and third-generation descendants of the Holocaust, other genocides, and the myriad of other traumatic experiences. As my client, I seek to help you grow and re-story your personal and family narratives rooted in your traumatic memory of abuse, homophobia, slavery, forced displacement, or genocide.
While I work with a variety of issues, I also specialize in the treatment of co-dependency; alcoholism/ addiction; depression, anxiety, motivation, individuals, couples, and groups. I focus on issues of the here and now, while also paying close attention to patterns grown from the past. Rising to the challenge and growing from them is key to psychotherapy.
I have over 12 years of experience and training in a variety of treatment settings and modalities, such as, ACT, CBT, Narrative and Logotherapy. I have seen what works and what does not. We will discuss your options and help you make the decisions that are best for you.
Change is possible. Therapy can help you move forward. My aim is to provide you with a safe, supportive space where that change can happen.
