At various times in our lives, we encounter flex points: moments that cause us to refocus, pivot, or stretch beyond our comfort. While these flex points may feel taxing, they are also opportunities for growth. What’s your flex point? I work with individuals as they face flex points related to their family, career, and personal lives. Through weekly sessions, we will work to set goals, identify potential roadblocks, and develop strategies for success. Flexing our emotional muscles, it is my goal to empower you with the skills to manage flex points throughout your life. My approach to counseling is person-centered and is grounded in positive psychology. That means I believe your individual goals drive the techniques we use and strategies we implore. Furthermore, I believe in establishing an authentic relationship that is based upon mutual respect and which fosters space for you to explore and grow. This groundwork allows us to focus not only on what is causing pain, but also what brings you joy and helps you to thrive in your life, work, and relationships. About Me “Does she know what she’s doing?” “Are we a good fit?” “Can we talk without all that psychology babble?” Good questions! While reading on below will certainly clue you in to my qualifications (hint: not only do I know what I’m doing, I love doing it), our fit and chemistry are really what’s going to make our time together successful. So, I’d like to share with you a bit about who I am as a person, not just as a therapist, and what has led me to this point in my life and career. I am a Philadelphia area native and graduated from Temple University with my B.A. in English literature and creative writing. “What do I do with an English degree?” I thought. After working for years in the non-profit sector, packing and unpacking my car after a close call with attending law school, and clearing my mind through a solo trip to Barcelona, I finally sought career counseling. A natural problem solver and connector, I identified my passion for helping people who, like me, encounter those uncomfortable flex points when life feels a bit out of hand. That passion led me to pursue a career as a therapist. I completed my M.A. in Counseling at Arcadia University and did my clinical training at the Open Door Counseling Program at Philadelphia’s Mazzoni Center. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Affiliations: I am a member of the American Counseling Association; the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Mental Health Professional Group; Delaware Valley Career Planners; and the National Association for Colleges & Employers. Through these organizations, I participate in continuing education programs to further my expertise and stay current about emerging research.
