About me
My style is eclectic. I incorporate multiple theories and models into our work together. I have completed training in Gestalt Psychotherapy and Attachment theory. I’m well-read, so I use other approaches in my work too, and like all counselors, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I can take a spiritual approach to our work when requested. I will incorporate nutrition and exercise into conversations as well when asked. My style is straight-forward and direct. I see our relationship as a partnership in a collaborative process. You know you, I know psychology. We work together to figure out what you might address to improve your life. My focus is on your strengths, and I work to empower you to see things differently to feel better.
I enjoy helping people with anxiety and depression. I work well with overachievers, intellectuals, and high-functioning or over-functioning individuals to help them find balance in their life overall. I understand addiction and how to support family members of a person with an addiction. I enjoy working with couples. I have completed the Gottman phase 1 training for Marriage Counseling. I like working with children and teens. I have experience working with schizophrenia, OCD, Selective Mutism, Hoarding, Bipolar, and chronic mental health diagnosis. I’m skilled in Parenting Concerns. I’ve worked as a mobile therapist with children and teens; I have experience supporting autism in male and female clients. I’ve also worked with children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder and ADD, and ADHD. I’ve also worked in crisis and inpatient mental health, but I think that online therapy is not for those who are in crisis.
I’m skilled and knowledgeable about supporting seniors, the disabled, and children with special needs. I own a small business that supports this population, www.ikorofwpa.com. I’m well versed in how to best support these areas. I understand caregiving and how hard it is to provide care can be. I know public programs for care, and I am considered an expert in care-related areas. I’m well versed in Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and chronic health concerns.
I attended Carlow University and earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling after working in sales and marketing after 25 years in business. I’m well versed in career-related concerns and career transitions.
