I have been licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, USA, since 2001. Prior to getting licensed I was employed in the Executive Search industry. I have also worked as an Outplacement Consultant for the largest outplacement firm in the US. Recently, I was employed with the NC Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services as a Rehabilitation Counselor for 16 years providing career services to clients with physical, mental, and/or developmental challenges. In 2022, I contributed to a newly published career counseling textbook. I served as Advocacy Chair for the Licensed Clinical Counselor Association of NC during 2022 & 2023. I also Chaired the N.C. Professional Association Council in 2023, consisting of Licensed Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Marriage & Family Therapists, & Licensed Addictions professionals. I received the LCCNC “Outstanding Advocacy Award” in 2023 “for excellence in clinical mental health advocacy efforts that advance the counseling profession and the communities served.” Earlier, I served as President of the NC Career Development Association, NC Rehabilitation Association, and NC Association of Personnel Consultants. I remain a Certified Personnel Consultant and I have been a Master Career Counselor through the National Career Development Association. I have written a weekly column for a New York Times regional newspaper known as “Career Talk.” You are the expert of your story and have strengths that will support you in overcoming challenges you may currently face. My approach to counseling is from a career perspective. All activities of life contribute to our “career” including what we do for pay as well as what we do just for the joy of doing it!
