About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker with over 5 years of experience working as a mental health counselor. I obtained my Bachelor’s in Social Work and Master’s in Social Work from East Carolina University. I am also Licensed Clinical Addition Counselor-Associate. I have worked with a wide range of client’s ranging from infant-gerontology. I have a certificate in Child and Family Development and Gerontology. I am a certified Child-Parent psychotherapist and a vast majority of my work has been specialized in treating child abuse and trauma. I have worked with populations such as trauma, ADHD, ODD, Autism, PTSD and Depression.
My counseling style in most certainly client-centered. I believe that the client is the driver their treatment and well-being with additional support from the therapist. I believe that the development of a healthy and therapeutic relationship is very important to a successful outcome. My treatment approach combines cognitive-behavioral, attachment and psychodynamic theories. I believe in deeply exploring early childhood experiences to determine a connection between those experiences and ones internal working model and scripts. I engage in much reflectiveness with my client’s. I am not here to tell people what to do but, to assist them with processing, reflecting and creating healthier mental mindfulness. I am compassionate about helping people and will offer an respective an empathetic stance at all times. I enjoy working with children and young adults, especially teenagers. “Teen years” can be difficult to manage and understand and in the past I’ve had a great connection to teenagers. I am a mandated-reporter when it comes to abuse, neglect, homicidal and suicidal ideations. As a social worker my core values are service, social justice, integrity, value and human relationships.
My goal is to take the negative stigma from social workers and therapy. I support normalizing better mental health treatment just as we normalize physical health treatment. If you have come to the website you have already taken the first step to better your mental health. Therapy will not fix all of your problems but, it is a step in the right direction. I am here to support with taking the next steps.
