About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is currently working on attaining my Master’s Level Certified Addiction Professional Certification (MCAP). I am a first-generation college graduate of Caribbean descent who received a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida back in 2015. While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I began working at South County Mental Health in Delray Beach, Florida which began my journey in the field of Social Work. I later obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work at Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
I have over 6 years of experience working in the field of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorder. I have worked in several treatment facilities, including but not limited to, South County Mental Health Center, The Florida House Experience, and Banyan Health System to assist in combating the addiction crisis. My specialties include treating individuals with the following issues: Abandonment, Addiction, Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders, Mental Health (Bipolar, Depression, and Anxiety), Grief/Loss, Guilt and Shame, Sexuality Concerns, Self Esteem Issues, Body Imagining Issues, Intimacy Problem, Stress, Anger, Crisis/Trauma, Impulse Control, Codependent Relationships, Relationship/Family Conflict, and Work-related stressor. My experience extends to community outpatient facilities, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, and private practice.
These opportunities have contributed to my extensive understanding, belief, and practice associated with psychotherapy. I work from a strength-based perspective, encouraging self-compassion and positive self-regard for my clients. I believe in establishing a positive working relationship with clients in order to create a healthy therapeutic rapport in order to increase a positive treatment outcome. My treatment modalities consist of Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I have experience working with various populations (i.e., homeless, community control/criminal justice, LGBTQ, and the elite class) and age groups (i.e., children, adolescents, and adults). My focus is to help others develop a healthy thought process to relieve emotional and psychological distress.
