About me
I know life at times can feel as if you are walking a tight rope trying to balance, while trying to remain on the rope as life throws us curve balls. I would like the opportunity to be your safety net for those times you are feeling unbalanced (stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, grief stricken). I am passionate about what I do, the people I work with, as well as this journey we will experience together. While on this journey my goal is to give you hope, strength, facilitate behavior change, enhance coping skills, improve relationships, and promote decision making while improving both emotional and physical well-being.
My purpose as a counselor is to help you find hope in your healing process. It is about making commitments to healing so that you can become your best self with a partner (myself) who provides a warm, safe environment while supporting you in a non-judgmental manner. Counseling can help both children and adults develop or enhance problem-solving skills and cope with stress and a variety of emotional as well as behavioral issues. My goal is not to make decisions or solve your problems, but to gently guide you into naturally making choices that are right for you, your children, and your family. I look forward working with and assisting you with working through this difficult moment in time.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with 16 years of experience working with all populations including children, teenagers, adults, elder, families, groups, and couples. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2004 from Wayne State University. Immediately after graduation, I started the accelerated program the next month which resulted in obtaining my Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University in 2005 with a specialty in family therapy. During my career I have worked with a variety of agencies providing therapy and clinical support to children (their families) and adults with mental health concerns as well as individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities. I have extensive experience working with individuals suffering from low self-esteem, life transition challenges, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship concerns, communication challenges, family, and/or parenting difficulties, as well as anger management. I utilize a variety of eclectic, individualized, evidence-based therapeutic modalities to promote an overall healing, healthy outlook. As a clinician I meet everyone where they are on this journey therefore, I use a person-centered approach to meet each individual needs. My approach to counseling is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapy, while integrating Dialectical Behavioral skills. I foster a warm, non-judgmental, safe environment. My ability to build dynamic relationships with the individuals/families I support has been the foundation of my career. Come join me and I will be your guide as I walk beside you in this journey called life.
