As you increase in self-awareness and begin to identify areas for change you begin to formulate a plan of Action. Insight and understanding of the origins of your thinking or behavior patterns can be quite valuable in the process of change. Often we uncover old “scripts” or messages we have believed about ourselves that can hold us back. As you become empowered by new thinking you will notice a change in your self-worth and self-esteem. This is one of the results of effective psychotherapy that Motivates you to stay on the new path you have begun, to redesign you life, and to be freed from old wounds and hurts. It is a powerful and fulfilling experience and a counselor it is always a joy to walk along side someone on this path of self discovery. My 25 + years in the field has been quite formative for me both personally and professionally. My formal education began in Connecticut at Sacred Heart University and I completed my Masters program at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. I was among the first therapists in the USA to receive accreditation by the American Academy of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama. I incorporate many of these tools and techniques into my individual therapy as well. My formal training was broad, encompassing psychoanalysis, family systems, CBT (cognitive behavior therapy, aka REBT), Gestalt Psychotherapy, solution focused counseling, and the creative arts therapies.
